Post Office Horizon Scandal Police Inquiry Needs £16.5M Funding

The police investigation into the Post Office Horizon IT scandal faces a potential five-year delay unless it secures an additional £16.5 million in funding. Currently, 111 detectives are involved, but the team would need to double to meet the timeline for submitting files for prosecution, targeting late 2024 or early 2028. A total of £2.8 million has been received from the Home Office, significantly short of the funding required. The inquiry, known as Operation Olympos, has been ongoing since 2020 and has already questioned 13 out of 53 suspects involved in the case.
