E-bike Injury Payouts Surpass £110M, Raising Insurance Premiums

The total cost of damages for e-scooter and e-bike injuries in the UK has exceeded £110 million, with the highest individual claim reaching £20 million. This increase in compensation has resulted in higher premiums for drivers to cover insurers' costs. In the last year alone, payouts rose from £51 million to £110 million. The Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) reports a record 168 claims in 2025, emphasizing the growing concern over safety and regulation of micromobility vehicles.
