E-bike Injury Payouts Surpass £110M, Raising Insurance Premiums

The total cost of damages for e-scooter and e-bike injuries in the UK has exceeded £110 million, with the highest individual claim reaching £20 million. This increase in compensation has resulted in higher premiums for drivers to cover insurers' costs. In the last year alone, payouts rose from £51 million to £110 million. The Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) reports a record 168 claims in 2025, emphasizing the growing concern over safety and regulation of micromobility vehicles. This trend impacts ordinary investors as it indicates rising costs in the insurance sector and potential regulatory changes affecting the market.
