SSE Airtricity to Raise Gas Prices by 19% Starting October 1
SSE Airtricity will increase gas prices by almost 19% from October 1 for 200,000 domestic and small business customers in Northern Ireland. This will raise the annual gas bill of a typical household by nearly £172. The company attributed this rise to significant volatility in global energy markets and increased wholesale gas prices, which have doubled since the start of the conflict in Iran. The wholesale cost of gas has reached 169 pence per therm, twice the pre-conflict price, indicating ongoing pressures in energy markets relevant for consumers relying on these utilities.
