Community Larders Save 34 Tonnes of Food at Silverstone Event
Volunteers from Roade and Towcester's Community Larders invested over 1,000 hours to save 34 tonnes of food from the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. They collected and distributed food items like fruits, eggs, and milk to approximately 3,000 people. On Monday alone, 450 individuals attended their pop-up shop, exceeding the typical 350. These efforts are crucial in reducing food waste, especially during events where large amounts of food are left over, providing valuable resources to those in need.

Silverstone Event Collects 15 Tonnes of Surplus Food Donations
During the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, 50 volunteers from Towcester Community Larder collected 15 tonnes of unused food as part of their mission to reduce waste. Last year, they gathered a total of 32 tonnes. The event hosted 564,000 fans, marking a record attendance for a Formula 1 race. The volunteers aim to continue this effort until Thursday and sell the surplus food at discounted rates, which potentially benefits local community members.
