GlobalFoundries (GFS) Innovates AI Infrastructure with Optical Solutions

GlobalFoundries (GFS) is addressing AI infrastructure challenges by introducing co-packaged optics (CPO) to replace traditional copper connections. This innovation allows data to be transmitted through light, resolving bandwidth and heat issues associated with copper. In May 2026, GFS announced its SCALE platform, the first to adhere to Optical Compute Interconnect Multi-Source Agreement specifications. The platform has achieved significant milestones with 8λ and 16λ bi-directional DWDM capabilities, enhancing bandwidth density and scalability for AI applications.
