ON Semiconductor (ON) Announces $7 Billion Synaptics Acquisition
ON Semiconductor (ON) has agreed to purchase Synaptics in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $7 billion to advance its physical AI technology efforts. This acquisition is expected to increase ON Semiconductor's total addressable market by $30 billion to reach $243 billion by 2030. Following the announcement, ON's shares dropped by about 6%, while Synaptics shares gained around 13%. The deal marks ON Semiconductor's largest acquisition to date and is projected to close in mid-2027.
