RSPCA Clinic Treats 160 Pets in 11 Days, Offers Low-Cost Care

A reduced-cost veterinary clinic operated by the RSPCA's Medway West branch has treated 160 pets in its first 11 days, focusing on people with low incomes or those receiving benefits. This clinic allows pet owners to seek necessary treatment for their animals without incurring the full cost of veterinary care. According to branch account manager Imara Ó Niocail, many pet owners who used to be able to afford animal care are struggling due to changes in the cost of living or personal circumstances. Kevin Morton, the Medway West branch manager, emphasized that the charity's centers are becoming overcrowded as some pet owners are forced to give up their animals because they can't afford their upkeep. The clinic aims to keep pets with their owners by providing affordable care. Additionally, the branch has supplied significant amounts of pet food, including 18,909 food items and 919kg of biscuits, to support pet owners in need. This initiative is significant for pet owners facing financial difficulties, as it helps them maintain the companionship of their pets during challenging times by reducing veterinary costs.
