The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has initiated a formal investigation into a fatal crash involving a Tesla Model 3 that occurred on June 19 in Texas. The crash resulted in the death of a 76-year-old woman who was inside a home struck by the vehicle, which reportedly was using an automated driving assistance system at the time. The crash occurred around 20:00 local time, with the driver not being intoxicated. This investigation is the most rigorous type conducted by NHTSA and aims to assess the safety performance of the automated driving technology.
