GKN Aerospace's Production Down 50% Amid Toxic Incident

In late May, GKN Aerospace's chemical storage tank, containing over 7,000 gallons of toxic material, overheated, prompting the evacuation of more than 50,000 residents in Garden Grove. The tank reached a maximum temperature of 100F (38C), while production of aircraft windows at GKN's facility is currently at 50% of normal capacity. A $100 million program was announced in August to compensate affected residents. The reduced production is impacting the aircraft manufacturing industry, as GKN is one of the few manufacturers of critical aircraft windows, leading to supply chain concerns for manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus (BA, AIR).
