EarthGrid Tests Tunnel-Boring Machine at 27,000C for Infrastructure

EarthGrid conducted a test of its tunnel-boring machine (TBR) in January, reaching temperatures of 27,000C, which is significantly hotter than the surface of the Sun. The machine successfully drilled through three meters of granite. CEO Troy Helming noted increasing interest from companies for undergrounding projects, spurred by threats to above-ground utilities, particularly due to geopolitical tensions. The company expects potential commercial deployment of the TBR as early as next year, indicating a growing demand for innovative infrastructure solutions that could benefit various sectors.
